Reserve Question

I'm looking at an ebay auction in which the seller says "I have a reserve on it for $250." But, the auction page doesn't say anything about there being a reserve. The seller appears quite new, with a feedback total of four.

So, what do you think happens if I win the auction with a high bid of, say, $179?

Maybe he should be notified that the reserve is not present on his auction. If he did want to sell it for at least $250, and it does not go for that much he might have negative feedback from the winner, if he does not deliver on the sale. I think that he must have made a mistake when setting up his auction and I myslef would not bid on the item depending if I was not willing to pay more than $250 for it.

I've seen that before. Just email him as it may be an oversight on his part and if
there are no bids on it, he can still revise it. I wouldn't want to deal with the potential
headache if I got it for less.

Some people, especially newbies, think it's OK to avoid paying for a reserve by simply stating a minimum price, with the implication that they won't complete the sale for less. Of course if they state that implication outright, it would be an eBay violation.
  • contact either the seller or eBay themselves. eBay would remove it.
