Book Recomendation

If you like to read about sports
or like sports talk radio today
then you need to read this book.

It is called "All those mornings... at the Post"
and is part biography of Shirley Povich (yes, Maury's father)
who was a legendary sports writer for the
Washington Post for more than 70 years!
But it is also a collection of many different
stories that he wrote over the many years
(1920-1994) he worked at the post as a
sports writer.

He covered things like Babe Ruth's called shot
and Gerhig's final game, but also
lived to see and report on Ripken breaking
that record, McGwire and Bonds breaking the HR records,
and more! What a lifetime he has had
and he book is full of great imagery and
storytelling worth your time.

  • With ESPN's deal for MNF pushing the NFL's annual television revenues over the 3 billion mark (that's billion with a 'b'!), I'd also like to chip in with a book recommendation.....it's "America's Game" by Michael MaccCambridge (Random House)and it really tells the story of how the NFL has developed from the early days of tv and radio coverage to the point where it very well might now be running our country!

Meanwhile...all those people who are sitting glued to their tv screens, rapt over the NFL draft - you've really gotta get out more!
  • Teammates is excellent. LINK image
  • Juiced by Jose Canseco is exquisite.
