Any TCMA collectors out there? Need help identifying a card.

The lots I won from MG auctions arrived Friday, and I've been going through them, trying to identify cards, and what not. Among the cards was this puppy:

The auction description had it as a signed picture, but when I saw the back, I identified it as a TCMA postcard. I started searching through the Beckett OPG, and found a 1975 TCMA Yankees All Time Team that seems to match up:

1975 Yankees All-Time Team TCMA 1 Bill Dickey
1975 Yankees All-Time Team TCMA 2 Joe DiMaggio
1975 Yankees All-Time Team TCMA 3 Whitey Ford
1975 Yankees All-Time Team TCMA 4 Lou Gehrig
1975 Yankees All-Time Team TCMA 5 Tony Lazzeri
1975 Yankees All-Time Team TCMA 6 Mickey Mantle
1975 Yankees All-Time Team TCMA 7 Johnny Murphy
1975 Yankees All-Time Team TCMA 8 Phil Rizutto
1975 Yankees All-Time Team TCMA 9 Red Rolfe
1975 Yankees All-Time Team TCMA 10 Red Ruffing
1975 Yankees All-Time Team TCMA 11 Babe Ruth
1975 Yankees All-Time Team TCMA 12 Casey Stengel
Total Items: 12

The only difference is that they assign #s to the cards alphabetically rather than by position as on the back of my Stengel. I'm pretty sure that this is the right set, but if there are any old TCMA collectors that could confirm it I would most grateful.

If it is the same set, then this gets interesting. The set was released in 1975 at some point. Mr. Stengel passed away on September 29th, 1975, so there can't be many of these signed out there. I compared the signature to my 1953 Bowman B&W card, as well as to a few that are out on eBay, and the autograph looks legit (and comes with a Mike Gutierrez L of A). I just want to make sure that I'm not barking up the wrong tree.

And I think the auto looks good too - what is it going for?

That's strange. I still can't find it in the Beckett OPG (it's basically the yearly big book - only on-line). Thanks for identifying it though! Is it in the SCD book instead?

I haven't listed it yet, but will probably be doing so in a couple of weeks (got a lot of cards to go through and get into Turbo Lister!). It's tough, since there are a lot of cards I want to keep (autographed Maris 1975 Mini, autographed mini-Brett rookie, autographed 64 Rose), but if I keep them, it'll be harder to make back the $ on the lots. Decisions, decisions...

    Thanks!

Good luck on the item - it's pretty nice - give a link to your auction when you set it up.

  • Which auction did you win this lot from?

Mike Gutierrez Auctions. Link to the auction I'm debating sending in some of the cards to PSA/DNA for slabbing, since while I'm mostly comfortable with Mike's opinions on signatures, I realize that they'll probably sell for more in a PSA/DNA slab.

  • Cool items. I'd say the $20 fee for slabbing/authenticating the Maris and Dimaggio cards would be well worth it.
