How to take good photo's

Good Morning, Just looking for advice on how to take good photo's with a digital camera. Ie how should the back light be and if possible different camera settings. I am using a Nikon cool pix 4300. I am sure this has been discussed to death but just thought I might get some feedback from you pro's.

I asked cosmicdebris's advice and he made it quite simple. Practice taking lots of pictures....LOTS of pictures! That was it. Very sage advice.image

Go back and do search for "camera" or "photos" ect. and you'll find dozens of good threads covering this in great detail. A literal best of the forum library. No need to have everyone repeat what has been said before. Now all I need to do is read the same stuff and get to taking pictures too. I have the camera and the technology.

Remember it's not how you pick your nose that matters, it's where you put the boogers.

When you come up with a setup you want to try, take lots of shots of the same side of 1 coin and compare. If nothing appeals, try another setup. Lighting intensity and position are important variables to play with once you're in macro mode and have the proper white balance. Be careful not to leave slabs under high heat lamps, they are plastic.
