1795 Dollar

This is color I prefer on any circulated dollar right up through Peace Dollars.

My next goal is a coin like this and I'd bid strong right now if I had the money..... makes me want to consider selling my Morgan collection.

Is there a name for this type of color?

Two-tone battleship grey is what I call them.

I don't know but I love that color on old bust pieces as well!

Interesting how they labeled the holder "Drape Bust" on the Auction coin. Here is mine to compare. Same first generation holder.

BTW, anyone know why that label says "Drape Bust" for a Flowing Hair?! image

Nice original coin, I love the look!

Stman, your coin looks quite nice as well. Damn, look at all these old rattler coins, didnt think any survived in todays crackout atmoshere

    Nice.

That's the look I'd expect from a coin of that age and condition. The 1800 dollar in another thread lacks that look.

I love both those "drape/flow hair/bust" dollars image
Always looking for attractive rim toned Morgan and Peace dollars in PCGS or (older) ANA/ANACS holders!

Early dollars are one of my favorites!!!

I would describe the color as "gun metal". Especially on a circulated piece like the one in the auction and the one stman has.

    Just love 'em!!

    Awesome coins, both.

BTW, anyone know why that label says "Drape Bust" for a Flowing Hair?!

PCGS made a mistake. The first and only one they've ever made image

Sure do wish I'd cracked my rattler on my 1871 $1 that was graded 64 but now rests in someone ELSE'S ....66....holder.

IMO..... the 1795 dollar is the MOST important US coin to own.

Essentially a one year type as well as ..... LARGE.... FIRST.....and..... DOLLAR.

In the bust half field it's often called "original dirt."

Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.
