Questions about PVC?

p8ntp8nt Posts: 2,947 ✭✭✭
Ok, So, Im pretty sure that we all know PVC flips and the like are bad for coins because they cause green slime and pitting.. but here comes the real question. How do you know if something contains PVC? Like is there a warning on them? Does the price of flips indicate whether there may be PVC? Does PVC have a tint or a feel? I have asked a few people and not many answers have come my way.. so Im curious.

The PVC flips all say "Warning...contains PVC. Not For Coin Storage"

OK, I'll stop being a wise guy. The PVC flips are the soft pliable ones. The non-PVC flips are tough an brittle. At the coin store, maybe ask if they have both kinds, and if you can see them. After you see the difference, it should be a no-brainer.

Also, sometimes 2X2's have PVC in the plastic, but it's less obvious than on the flips.
