OT: Uploading Icons

I would like to choose a more representative icon, but how do you upload a graphic that does not appear on the icon list?
The "help" button does not provide me with a clue.

Have to wait until the 15th of the month.

Usually someone will post an "ICON UPLOAD" thread on the day. If the 15th is on a Saturday or Sunday, the admin chooses the day she wants to allow the upload.

In addition to there being a limited window of opportunity for uploading (i.e., only on the 15th of every month), there are also filesize limitations. Your custom icon must be no greater than 100 x 100 pixels in size, and I believe the filesize must be no greater than 10 kilobytes.

You can add them whenever you want, just use internet explorer, if not, then I dunno.

I use safari in developer move and check mark use as IE to get it to work.

Isn't there supposed to be a button on the Profile page? I do not see one, but I haven't dealt with this issue in over 9 years.

Yes, it should be there, it is on my profile.

It is not on my profile. This may be like the situation where I was unable to use the search engine, presumably because of my Safari browser.

I just went through the same thing and contacted the forum administrator.

The problem seems to be with Macs. Mac users do not have the "Upload your own author icon" on their profile page. At the moment, there isn't a fix.

If you have a PC or a Mac which is running Windows, use Internet Explorer to access your profile page and you will be able to upload your own avatar.

I remember that from a couple/few years ago...I had to do it from work. I'm surprised there hasn't been a fix for it considering how long it's been a problem. Does using Firefox get you around the problem? I have to use Firefox for my small town local bank that is relatively new to online things. Switching browsers works, and it's only the Billpay feature affected.

I don't think that Safari has anything to do with it, I'm using it for the past 8 years without a single problem.

Harasha, if you go to your profile page, down to the bottom of the page and right before the button submit changes you will see a line that goes like this:

Select the author icon you wish to use: pointing to a drop down menu that is followed by two buttons view and view all.

The particular date that hasn't been posted in over a year now here at the Darkside, another indication of how lazy we've become, is to upload your NEW icon in that drop down menu (and name it). Otherwise, you can change your icon at any given moment and then simply store the change. Judging from your icon, you haven't succeeded to change it, so you'd better PM an admin to help you out with the process, but it's worth a look into the vast selection of all the icons uploaded by members over the years, very few of which are currently used comparatively. Think of how many members have stolen Mac's icon, and then you'll understand that very few get into the trouble of uploading a new one (I've done it 3 times in 11 years).

I did email support and as TIF2 stated, there appears to be an issue with Safari.

    To wit:

"People working off of Safari have been experiencing issues uploading icons. Please send me your avatar via email and I will make sure it’s uploaded in the next few days."

I kindly thanked the administrator that responded. However, I was unable to reduce the size of the icon I wished to upload, so that was that.
Nevertheless, I still am happy with my current icon.

Here is the "fix" for Mac and Safari
I got this from someone else on the US Coin Forum

Click "Develop" on your top menu bar
    Select "user agent"
    Select IE 10.0

The upload button will now appear.
