ATTN: STOLEN PCGS MORGANS. Ctxt

I know this isn't the proper forum but I was just the victim of a follow home type robbery where several high grade PCGS Morgans were stolen. In a nutshell, I left my local coin store (I had taken several on my nicest green labels with me to show the dealer) While in the store,
I purchased about $2500.00 worth of stuff (mostly circ silver) I left the coin store and was apparently followed by 3 male Hispanics in
a white Mazda (with paper plates) In any case, these were high end coins that will probably end up for sale (I hope they don't
break them out). I have pictures and PCGS cert numbers for most of them. Here are the coins I remember off the top of my head.
I don't have some numbers or pictures as I just purchased them withing the last week or so (including 2 today)
I will add to the list after I complete an inventory. The coin store was located in Southern California. These coins are all green labels.
They also took a 200 or so circ Morgans/raw and PCGS graded gold. More info when I gather my thoughts and calm my nerves.

But this is California, we're not allowed to protect oursselves.
Yeah!! What a sad state of affairs. I guess yer sposed to let the authorites or po-leese handle it but its a little late AFTER the scumbags got yer stuff. Sorry to hear about yer loss Craig. Hope you get it all back.
JMHO of course.
Getting back on track, Craig, I'll PM you on other idea's.
Can't tell you if it was 2 or 4 door. It had paper plates front and back with MAZDA on them. Not sure if the vehicle was a Mazda or
not. The plates might have been put on the car to make me THINK the car was a Mazda. I figure they were in the parking lot and
saw me walk out with a large canvas bank bag (marked with the shops name) and figured I had something of interest. The coin
shop was Liberty Coin in Signal Hill so you Southern California folks be aware. My money says these guys may try this again.
Also, here are a couple of links to some of the coins that were stolen. I just got the 1887-S MS65 in the mail yesterday and now
it's gone. Damn shame....Craig Frick.... THE FRICK COLLECTION(S)

(Didn't sell on Ebay but I emailed the guy and bought it. I have proof)

Thanks for the info -- I do shop there and will be more careful. Signal Hill is nice, but its right next to Long Beach which is full of crime.
I really do hope you get your coins back. Did you alert Jim @ Liberty? These guys might be dumb enough to try and fence the goods there!
Keep us posted!

They will probably go to a coin shop far from the area, say their "grandpa" or "uncle" died and left them these coins. They will
sell them for cash on the spot. If I can let as many dealers know as possible, they can call 911 while these guys are in the shop.
If it's a crooked dealer, he may just crack them out and resumbit them. Both the 1880-O MS64 and the 1886-O MS62 were a lock
for upgrades. The 1880-O jumps to 15k in a 65. I hope that doesn't happen.
Craig....
Before you get insurance for coins, or for theft, be sure to read the fine print. I 'thought' I was covered for theft but when I reported to my insurance agent that my wife had been pick-pocketed he told us our policy did NOT cover us. especially after waiting at a police station for over 4 hours to file a report that as of this date we've heard nothing back (not even a courtesy call).
Also, in the past when I checked out what it would cost to insure numismatic items against loss from my home the rates were SKY high.
So, I stay as invisible as possible, shred all coin-related documents that I am discarding, use a PO box, keep all but base coins in SD boxes, don't display my collections to guests, don't give out my name at coin shows, etc. etc. I live in a region where one of the biggest employers in the county is the prison system - we have a local / county / state / federal prison complex area topping 5,000 acres or more - what does THAT tell you about crime?

Any info on the other cert #'s?
I will be in touch with the police today with the cert numbers/pics/etc. I will also be contacting the local coin/pawn shops so they can
be on the lookout for these coins. I suspect the guys will try to move these quickly. More info as it becomes available.
Also taken were 8 gold type sets (2 1/2,5,10,20) 4 Lib sets and 4 Indian/Saint sets
180 circ Morgans in a white bank bag marked Liberty Coin Shop
Plust what I listed previously.
Thanks for all of your help, support and kind words.

Sleep well tonight for the 82nd Airborne Division is on point for the nation.
AIRBORNE!
Could you explain how they approached you? Did they use guns, knives, or what? I ask this because there are a lot of members here who frequent shops in that area, and detailing these creep's MO would be a good thing to do to put others on guard.
If everyone would keep this thread near the top and copy the property list and give it to at least two dealers--YOU NEVER KNOW.........
get the property list circulated. The only way those thieves would get away with this, logically, is if it was a preplanned heist and Frick was specifically targeted---which might make sense.
Normally, three hispanics in an unlicensed car do not go house hunting on the Palos Verdes Penninsula. Frankly, I'm kinda suprised they were not stopped with no plates.
