Argghh crisis!

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear...

Right what would you do?

I've got a set of Charles II sixpences (incomplete) but it's one coin from half way through, i was thinking of upgrading the odd piece here and there.

However i've just come across the nicest Stephen penny which would go well with my King Stephen set...

Do you carry on with the sixpences or do you buy the 'as struck' Stephen, with eye appeal?

Man these Stephen's are addictive... i've got two already!

I dunno what to do...

  • Well i just couldn't hold out on it, i've just asked for it reserving... i think i'll regret selling the sixpences, but i know i'd really, really regret not buying this!

That'll be 22 coins sold in a month and three new coins in. Well it is if i can raise the required amount from the sixers... it should be achievable.

That would be a real tough decision for me, Syl.
But I really like the Stephen image

Very tough decision and I guess I am not the best person to ask... I still do not have a Stephen penny and I have 2 of the Charles II 6d and one is hammered... the other is the common date of 1681. Neither of these series cross my path often...

    No contest.

Stephen all the way. Work on Chuck later. image

Look at the portrait on that thing! Wow! So much better-executed than on my old Watford penny, which I thought was impressive for its full portrait, hand, and scepter...

If you let that one pass you by, you'll likely regret it later.

One thing, though... you might tell the seller of that coin how to spell T-H-R-O-N-E. "Stole the thrown" sounds like a baseball play. image

I thought much the same, the Charles are quite common when all said and done, just feels like i'd be back tracking. Cos once i've sold them and got this, i've then got to start all over again. In one way this is good cos i really need to upgrade a few, so the ones i'm least happy with could go... and i'd feel a little better.

The Steve is far too good to pass up on! image

I 'through' that in for good measure...
