Is this really King Stephen... if so why is there an 'A' on the obverse?
Slightly underweight i'd guess, undersized certainly... could be a contemporary forgery, or it could be one of the issues where the moneyor took full advantage of the crisis in the country and produced underweight coins whilst making an absolute killing on the profits...
Obverse - Letter A survives on the right hand side of the coin (STEPHANUS REX issue? meaning a Derby mint? Found in Nottingham which ain't too far away, could also be a Lincoln mint variant)
Reverse - HE (backwards R?) There is an H and and E in the name of the guy at Derby, Wachelinus
