1960 Topps Question?

Does anyone know if there is any rhyme/reason for the different backs on these cards, some are white and some are grayish? Are there some that are done both ways or does it have to do with the series in which they were released. The white back ones always seem tougher to find in better condition or seem more condition sensitive in my opinion. Any thoughts? Do either carry a premium?

I have never seen any premiums associated with the different backs for 1960 Topps. I have never read any "reason" for doing it this way.
There are three proof cards that differ from the regular issue cards (Hadley, Cimoli, and Throneberry), but they qualified for their own entry in the Standard Catalog apart from the 1960 Topps cards.
