Porn Stach Survey

I was listening to a local sports radio program the other day and they were on the topic of atheletes with the old porn stach. I was laughing outloud by some athletes that were named for having one.

Does this qualify?

Kirk Gibson always had a quality porn stache... last season as bench coach for the Tigers, he looked like a porn star of the early 80's. He shaved it this season.

Does anyone think the porn stache on Mattingly has anything to do with him not being in the baseball HOF?

Let "Dick" Tidrow join the crew.

You can blame whatever you want, but the reality is that he wasn't good enough for long enough. Just like Will Clark.

Back to topic, I must follow up on my man Ron-J. For those who don't know him, he had a stellar minor league career, playing for the Washington Wankers...in the New York Yankeers farm system. Though his heyday was in the 70's-80's...there have been some modern day comparisions made with A-Rod. IMO, A-Rod comes up a little short.

Despite never making it to the bigs, and similar to Roy Hobbs, he was known for his monsterous shots. Not a good defensive player, but his stick was extraordinary. If you needed a man on base, he never failed to drive one up the middle. He had deceptive speed despite few stolen bases - I've seen him beat out many dribblers. His shortfall was constantly swinging for the fences -- which resulted too many pop-ups.

Ahh yes, and Ron's battery mate was the legendary John Holmes whose infamous 38" Big Stick was used to drive it home - to the delight of many on lookers!
