Sommer Islands "Hogge" money. Bermuda , 1616. See the first few pages of the Redbook (p. 21 in the 2005 spiral bound). The first coins struck for the english colonies in America. This looks kind of like a copy, but that sure seems to be what it is or is supposed to be.

This one looks like the shilling. Value of $3k to $5k in g-vg without hole and if authentic.

If it is real, it is certainly better than the shilling they use in the redbook. It's got to be alt least EF, which lists at $50k or more (again, sans hole).

  • I see the Red Book also states that "struck copies exist."

From the look of the ship, Id say it's got to be a novelty item.

IF that is real, it is worth mucho dinero, and would be among one of the nicest survivors, I'd think.

The chance of it being real is a long shot, though.

    Really long.

    Looks like a modern copy.
  • Best to think of it as fake until you know for sure, it'll save any disappointment if it turns out not to be real.
