2005 NFL Draft - Hobby Impact?

The NFL draft is this weekend and I geeked like all of the fans out there. Hopefully my Lions will get a CB or LB to help the defense. The 2004 Draft is one of the strongest hobby years since 2000, the 2001 Draft is pretty close second.

What do you think about the 2005 Draft? I think it will be average year, probably equal to 2000 and 2002, better than 2003. I don't see any sure-fire stars, plus the teams at the top are really bad.

Hot RCs at the start of the year - Ronnie Brown, Cadillac Williams, Braylon Edwards, Cedric Benson. Their strong college careers will drive interest in their cards.

Flop RCs by the end of the year - Alex Smith, Aaron Rodgers - QBs from gimmick offenses always concern me. Also add Maurice Clarett. People will buy his RC based on his college career and name.

Darkhorse RC, ie Big Ben Award - Mike Williams.

The Todd Marinovich Award - Adrian McPhereson. This guy may become a good QB, but it will take time. He hasn't had solid competition in 2 years. Ask Drew Henson how hard that is.

Most Popular RC at the end of the year - Cedric Benson. He could have a huge year if he ends up in Arizona.
