cards that should have been

Beckett does this is their monthly price guide...but their focus is on modern cards.

What cards that never were would you like to have seen? As much as i love that joe jackson t206, i would have love to see a 54 Topps mantle or a 1954 Bowman Aaron rookie card.

I think there is a 54 topps mantle, issued in the sports illustrated?

What if they had put Nolan Ryan and Tom Seaver together on the Topps Rookie Card?

Good one. And very plausible since they came in roughly at the same time.

You know what's scary... if someone listed those cards on eBay, there would be a lot of bidders who don't even realize the card does not exist, or would believe some story that the card was just discovered or was stolen by a Topps employee and it's the only one in the world and they can use buy-it-now to have it for just $500, and send the money either Western Union or money order to a P.O. box in some podunk city in the middle Alabama.
  • I'd like to see an action card of Babe ruth boning Lou Gehrigs wife. That would be nice in the 34 Goudey set in place of the Babe Ruths that never were!!

Those card images in that thread was beyond awesome. Truly a genius.

Can someone explain to me the joke about the 56 Cobb card (besides being many years too late)?

With Will Clark being one of my favorite players, I would have
loved to see a 1985 Topps USA Will Clark and a parallel tiffany
version. Later, a blank back version of the card was released,
but it just wasn't the same. Here is a picture of the card.
