Wife Finds Collection - Forced To Sell!

I have enjoyed this hobby but when my wife found out how much some of these coins cost she decided it would be better if I went back to drinking and gambling. I've never sold before, only bought. Most of the graded coins were from Heritage and a few from Ebay. Any fair offers will be considered but I would prefer to sell all at once. Please itemized offers for each coin. I also put together a roll set of business strike Kennedys from OBW rolls, mint sets and bags from the mint. I have 13 in Dansco Albums if anyone is interested. If you need my feed back from Ebay, my ID is samovz1.

  • man, I hope someone sweeps up all those franklins at once! All that hard work assembling the set, and now it's bye-bye time.
  • This is what I get for thumping my chest that I was almost done with a set. That led to "Let me see them," and then to "How much did this cost?" I'm sure you're familiar with how the rest of the story goes. Anyway, it's been fun and I'll try a different set after the heat is off.
  • I've got some wheat cents if you're interested. Don't cost nearly as much as Franklin's and loads of fun to search through.

  • It'll be cheaper to sell the coins.
  • Jesus said you can only divorce your wife in the case of adultry (7th Commandment).

Your original idea of continuing to collect after the heat is off is your best alternative. Not only that, when she sees the money you get and the increase over what you paid for them, she may change her mind. (Have an Income Statement handy!)

Of course, you'll have to report your increase to the IRS, though I doubt you'll be paying much more than you are now.

You could put your savings into dividend paying stocks while there is still no tax on them (Yea, President Bush!) until the heat is off.

    In any event, good luck!

  • So, let me get this straight, you made her starve and stand out in the rain while you bought these coins? And, she has no hobbies of her own?

  • Auction them off on eBay. It tends to go at Market Rate. More if there is a bidding war.

  • Wow, what a bum deal. By the way welcome to the boards. You have a very nice group of coins. Show off some pics, might just help things along. Of course, you could always tell the wife you've been offered half of what these are worth and that you should maybe sit on them a bit and wait for a better market. Better yet, just list the wife on ebay. Course you might then get stuck with a deadbeat bidder! Good luck and sorry about your situation.
  • Hey, she has a tent and a sleeping bag. And as far as hobbies, her only interest is draining the life and money out of me! All in jest. She's a great woman and is probably right about selling off the coins. As usual, when I get into something new I have a tendency to go overboard.
