Starliner Decals Question

Today at my local card shop I picked up 3 Mactac Starliner decal cards. The three are Stargell, Killebrew and Colovito. A little Ebay research show that these could have been issued in 1967 or 1983. I have a feeling these are from 1983, but does anyone know how to tell the difference? Were the originals Mactac or another maker (Dexter Press)? The three have white backs with blue lettering indicating the Mactac name and patent numbers. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

None of the Starliner stickers were made in the '60s (no matter what the backs say). Starliners were all made in the early '80s (1983 is generally accepted). The pictures came from the '67 Dexter press cards and that the creator in '83 just shrunk them down. Easiest way to convince yourself that it's not a contemporary set is by looking at the players that comprise the set. Amazingly they included numerous players (Palmer/Morgan/etc.) that would go on to HOF careers but at the time (1967) were relatively unfamous.
  • Thanks, Bob. I guess what you are saying is that they were produced as a set in the early 1980's from 1967 photos? PSA poulation report lists them under 1967 if you look them up. I just thought they were interesting and I got them cheap. Thanks for the information.
