saving wrappers??????

I have never been one to keep wrappers. Last week, I noticed a lot more people stating that they have a wrapper to go along with a set.

Do you keep wrappers from the sets you build?? I know a lot of people try to find them for the vintage sets, but do you also keep them for the modern sets???

Thanks for the input folks.

  • I do if I have a wrapper from opening my own packs but I wouldn't go and buy just a wrapper. If I'm shopping for a set, I personally do not care if a wrapper is included or not.

I have wrappers for each of my three vintage sets. (see below)

If I could afford them i would also have an unopened pack for each of my three vintagre sets. I can only afford the 72 pack. I would not open these packs.

I hadn't really thought of saving a pack. Knowning how I am, odds are I would want to crack it. Do you get your packs graded by GAI?

I try to collect wrappers for every set I have , and try to find an empty wax box for the modern (post '45) sets. Like variations, I just consider it all part of the set.
I've got wrappers going back to '33, and a few tins that T200 Fatimas came in. Makes for a cool display. They aren't expensive, but with GAI starting to grade them I suspect that will change.

Yeah GAI will change the face of pack collecting I suspect, as did Grading for cards. Although it's not as foreign an idea now, as compared to card grading then.
