Yankee Stadium for 82 great years. This day in history 82 years ago Yankee stadium opened. Too bad the Yankees of this era are a bunch of jerks and don't know anything about tradition. They might talk about tradition, but don't believe the hype.

Thanx Jay
I spent a lot of time in the right field bleachers in school! It's a great stadium and I tend to ignore the jerks and keep the place and personal memories in my heart.

<< <i>Careful with the jerk talk.. Axtell will bring on the jibber jabber. >>
Not jibber jabber, but the long-term yankees have learned that attitude from their big bossman who thinks its the yankees destiny to win the world series every year, and issues press releases when his team is playing poorly.
The jerk attitude starts at the top, and steinbrenner is the biggest one of them all.
Now here comes spammy and geist to talk about how great a man the George is.
About the best thing going for Safeco Filed is the the choo-choo train.
<< <i>And how many WS Championships have the Mariners won??????????

And what exactly does this have to do with Steinbrenner being a jerk?
It speaks volumes that you attack the M's and Safeco, instead of defending da George. Steinbrenner is the type of owner like Jerry Jones...someone who wants to make himself out to be more important than the team he owns, and everyone wants them to just shut their mouths and sign the checks.
I'd say if the Mariners had $200 million to throw at payroll, they'd be able to buy (oops did I say buy? I meant win) a championship or 2? I'm not going to get into excuses, when they won 116 games they should have taken it all, but let's not forget the M's have only been around since '77, and when they came into the league, it was a far different story than the expansion teams of today. The Yankees have been around for how long? Of COURSE they are going to have more championships. They've historically always had the most cash to throw at problems like payroll, and mistakes they make in one or two players are easily covered up when you have that type of cash going out.
I gotta tell ya, life's too short to give a rats ass about the Steiner or anyone else with whom I have absolutely no control over.
The stadium was open way before the Steinman was in play and will open long after the guy is dust.

<< <i>I am not a Yankees fan, but that stadium has a lot of history. I miss my Tiger Stadium, not that I do like Comerica Park, but I remember going down there, those tight concourses, the peeling paint. Might sound crappy, but made for some memorable moments.

That was exactly my point Stingray. Thanx for sharing the memory! They're priceless.

Do you have any hockey pucks or sticks with Steinbrenner's signature? I bet they are scarce.
