Obverse: A laureate bust of the King facing right, with MILTON in small letters beneath the truncation. Legend: GEORGIVS. III. DEI. GRATIA.
Reverse: A crown, orb, sceptr and sword lying on as cushion all upon a pedastal inscribed HOWE ST. VICENT DUNCAN in three lines. Three naval crowns above, and three flags draped around the base. On one inminute italics writing in MILTON Legend: ROYAL THANKSGIVING AT ST PAULS with DEC. 19. 1797 in the exergue.
Edge: Plain. Struck in silver, copper, brass and white metal. Fairly common. Diesinker and manufacturer, Milton. This piece is a wonderful chocolate brown copper proof.
This peice refers to the three naval victories of Lord Howe (June 1, 1794) Admiral John Jervis (Feb. 14, 1797), and Admiral Dincan (Oct. 11, 1797).
