Worth of a 1817 British Gold Sovereign in PR66 Cameo

I understand that only six to eight of the 1817 Proof Gold Sovereign exist.

I have a 1817 British Proof Gold Sovereign in PF66 Cameo NGC. Does anyone know what it is worth?

Thanks in advance.

We'd be honored to drool over your most excellent sovereign if you are able to post a picture of it! image

  • Right now it is in a Safety Deposit box.

When I look at the coin it has a nice Cameo and looks great. I will work on getting a picture up for all to see.

The Terner specimen, graded PF63 Cameo, sold for $6325 in May of 2003.

From whence did your coin originate? New find? Images would be nice...gold is always a treat. image
  • The coin is a client's of ours and he is looking to market it. It was graded by NGC about two years ago (I think for the serial number starts with 171XXX).
