Didn't know this had been posted here.
Great Read
Look how much he cut off that card. I don't know if this has been posted here before or not. That guy has some very cool articles including some good ones about the extra room in PSA slabs. He even tapes one onto a paint mixer and sticks one in the dryer lol.

1986-7 Fleer Basketball #111 Mychal Thompson
I've never trimmed a card before, and wanted to see how easy it was to do. I have a bunch of '86 Fleer rejects lying around, so I grabbed one, put it on a piece of lumber I have in my shop, put a steel ruler along the edge of the card, and sliced off the bottom with a craft razor.
The razor wasn't brand new, and this is the first and only time I've ever cut a card, so it's not like I'm an expert using the best tools. I think I did a good job though. I don't know if you can tell from the scan, but the bottom of this card is straight.
I figured it would take me several tries, but first time was the charm.
After the cut, the card is 3-29/64" high, so I cut 3/64" off, which is a little under 1/16". I picked a card that had good top corners, bad bottom corners, and was centered a bit high.
I sent in the top part of the card, and I kept the bottom part.

Do you think the slabber even thought, "Uh, it looks a little short"
Funny stuff.
