What grades are these coins? The reverses have the same wear as the obverses. Thanks. image

Here's another. And FYI spinaker, the coin is not green. That is a result of my scanning. image

    (1) Poor
    (2) VG
    (3) gF, maybe AVF depending on the reverse

  • 1) Poor
    2) Fair
    3) VG (maybe AF at an absolute push)

    American-scale LordM grades:

    1) G4
    2) G6 at worst, probably VG8
    3) VG10 to F12

Let me try this. This is a photo of the same 1872 Florin. The other was a scan. Any change in grade opinion?

    Wow, there's a BIG difference.

I'd go VF20, based on that picture. Amazing how much more hair detail shows that wasn't in the first pic.

  • Yep definately better in the shot, AVF i'd say.

I like the 1872 and by US standards I would say VF25 or even 30 but by Brit standards I think it is in the AVF range. I still like it and many of these dates are underappreciated in a quality circulated grade.
