Actually the Very Good is fairly accurate, I just don't understand why they give a 7 for VG. Why do they use "or better"? What does the card have to look like to get a 2? Is this not the worst grading service ever? Who is sending cards there? How many questions will I ask in this post? by the way, I'm not sober.
this kinda thing belongs on the home shopping network...they have lost all credibility with this type of grading...it might as well be grademycards...or pro
I don't think there's anything wrong with their grading; that looks like a VG (PSA 3) card to me. The problem lies in the numbers they use for their scale. Most people see "7" and think NM, not VG. I wonder what a Poor-Fair card rates on the BCCG scale? 5? Can it get any worse than a 5?
I'm sure it could be worse than a 5. If you use a card to scoop your kitty litter box and submit it to them they might only give that a 3...maybe a 4 if you use clumping litter.
yeah, I think people here don't understand the BCCG grading scale....BCCG 7 doesn't equal PSA 7. Maybe check out their website before you slam them, and learn what it means.
Beckett freely acknowledges in the Graded Cards section of its magazine that BCCG 9 is no better than PSA 7 or SGC 84. I didn't know that BCCG 7 was equivalent to PSA 3, but I'm not all that surprised. I guess its a way to see a high number describing your low-grade card.
At least Beckett is honest about it, unlike back-alley slabbers such as PRO and GEM.
Kevin can you please provide a link? I'm looking all over the Beckett site and I can't find the BCCG grading scale explained anywhere. In fact, there's hardly any mention of BCCG at all.
There is a bottom line for me - I remember when James Beckett vowed to take the moral high road and just publish values of cards since to do any other types of endeavors along with this would be a big fat conflict of interest. And then years later, they have broken all of their rules with nothing but the perception of conflict of interest.
Just imagine if PSA or SGC splintered into 2 to 3 different card grading companies like PSSA e.g. In this case the extra "S" would stand for scumbag!
I'm neither defending all the good grading companies nor wanting to make them look bad - I think they are more than capable of doing that all by themselves.
Stone - actually SGC did come out with BCCG type grading. I believe the cards were only graded for the Shop at Home Network to distribute. Something like SGCC was created so that Kenny Goldin could say his junk was graded by a 'real' grading company.
Like BCCG, it was strictly for suckers, and didn't last long ...

That's an interesting grade...I don't think collectors here think much of the BCCG tradename.

I would give it a PSA 2 or 3.

It's a BCCS 7. PSA is a different company where this would be a PSA 3. Two different companies, two different grading scales.
