Will you guarantee that it is a proof?

Jon, I think you're all-but-guaranteeing yourself a bad position by offering that coin that way.

IF it's a Proof that will end up in a major grading company's holder, you might be short-changing yourself. If not, you'll more than likely have (deserved) trouble with the winning bidder.

as I mentioned it is impaired with light cleaning....a major grading service like PCGS or NGC will probably not holder it........if somebody gets lucky and gets it into a holder then they deserve to make the extra buck on it.. Mark I am pretty sure with your history you would know that it is proof.....rims are square, hairlines are present etc. etc. etc... regarding guarantee.....I have several coins that NGC say are MS and PCGS say are Proof and vice versa....its a matter of who looks at it....

Jon, cleaned/impaired or not, the piece should be fairly easy to distinguish as a Proof vs. a business strike.

The listing's small images make it difficult to get a good look at it. Even if it is a Proof, however, if it wont grade out as such by a major grading company, odds are quite good that you'll end up with an unhappy buyer or worse.

I don't want to hijack your thread so I will refrain from further comment.

Mark you are correct it is fairly easy to tell, square rims, hairlines, mirror field...etc.... I dont think I will have an unhappy buyer, I think someone will be thrilled to put this into their own collection....a 58 proof is quite rare and at auction go for very high prices out of reach of most collectors...the chance to own own at a lower pice should make anyone happy.....yes the pictures are small but that is the best I could do....if you saw the coin in person you would agree with my observations....
