New website on coins of Poland 1919-1939

I put together a new website on my collecting interest, coins of Poland from the interwar Second Republic period, 1919 to 1939. If anyone has pictures of any varieties or types missing from the website and would like them posted, please send them to me at admin@second-republic.com. The site is www.second-republic.com: www.second-republic.com

Thanks. I love the Polish coins from this period - many of them have terrific art nouveau and art deco influences. Some of the patterns in particular are just amazing. Recently the coin market in Poland has really taken off (especially the last 2 years), and prices for a lot of the Second Republic coins have gone up also. But many are still fundamentally quite affordable, even in uncirculated condition, if you can find them image

A most impressive, useful and quite authoritative resource! Excellent!! image

I've been drooling over Polish coins for a long time now (medieval and modern) but it seems I always get distracted by something else. The photos you've presented, especially the patterns, are simply awesome!

Thanks for the resource.. it's bookmarked and saved image

That is a very nice site. Thank you for your work. I have been thinking about getting into Polish coins of this period for a while now. Your site is just what I need.

Thanks for the kind words! image Actually a lot of these coins I don't even have in my collection (yet!) so this is a way for me too enjoy them, too. Polish coins from this period are really interesting and beautiful, I highly recommend getting into them. A good first step for the English-language speaking collector is to pick up the Karolkiewicz sale catalog from CNG - a 2000 auction of coins of Poland covering 1000 years. It's full of history and has pics of some really amazing pieces.

Wonderful website, John! Coins from this period are extremely hard to find in uncirculated, and I feel very undervalued. In general, I like Poland's coins; Poland has a very long and rich history which is also reflected in its numismatic treasures.

As an aside, I will be selling a lot of my Polish collection within the next few months, including many select examples from WCN auctions of the past 6 years. On the block will be countermarked coins from Xavier Segno and Antoni Ryszard, high grade silver from medieval through modern times, as well as some modern patterns, one of which is unique.

I'm glad you like the site. I love these coins and you are absolutely right that the Polish coins from this period are still generally undervalued (even in spite of recent price increases). For example, take a very basic Second Republic coin - the 1 grosz dated 1935. It's maybe a $25 coin in uncirculated. But just try to find one in that condition! It's no easy task. You could spend months trying to find it.

Feel free to drop me a line if you have any from this period for sale :-) admin@second-republic.com

John, I'll keep you updated on the sale! Thanks for the interest.

Do you happen to know anything about post-WWII Polish Notgeld? I'd personally consider that to fit into that time period, time-wise, and it's Polish too. But of course it's not official republic coinage.
