It's nicely centered for that issue, but still, what gives?

I don't know the "book" value, but if memory serves, the last one on eBay sold for around 30 bucks. It's by no means rare, and there are a lot of unopened boxes of the minis still out there. I could MAYBE see that price for a 10, but not for a 9.

This guy gets some unbelievable prices for some of his stuff. I think a lot of folks looking for PSA have him in their favorite sellers list and look at his stuff often. All it takes is two guys who really want the same card.

I don't collect hockey - the SMR has the 88OPC but no mini - is it considered more rare and valued higher than the regular set? A PSA 9 Gretsky books at 55 bucks.

my understanding is that making-the-grade is "4-sharp-corners". he has about 4 different names on ebay.

Correct. He sells his high-dollar cards as 4SC, and his lesser items as m_t_g.

Could be the two buyers are caught up in a "measuring contest", if you will, to win the card.

The OPC Minis were produced for only 2 seasons (1987/88 and 1988/89), but never really caught on with collectors. They were small, star-focused sets (42 and 46 cards, respectively) that were certainly produced in smaller quantities than regular OPC, but have always had less appeal, so I'd be very surprised if average selling prices approched the levels of the regular sets.

It could be that the high bidders were collecting the card for the master set on the registry. I see this all the time w/ rare (or perceived rare) Dan Marino PSA graded cards.

AS a seller, I love this!

1967and 1973 Topps baseball wantlists (any condition) welcome. Once had the #14 ATF 1967 set. Yet another collector like skylaneflyer, gimel1 who made it to the completion of 1967 only to need the money more than the company of 609 close friends.
Looking for oddball Norm Cash and Cleon Jones stuff, and 1956 team cards

God, I really hate the holders PSA uses for this odd-sized cards. You'd think they'd have a better solution by now.
