Airtite sizes

Y'know, it'd be really nice if Krause listed coin diameters in the book.

I have a few requests for airtite sizes if anyone knows them, coins listed below. But I'm sure this is a question at least a few of us would like answers to without guessing or measuring, so if you know of websites that list diameters or airtite sizes for any coin types or just happen to know them, please do list them here. If we get a more than a few I'll probably whip up a webpage for them (with credits, of course image ).

The coins I have are late 1800s/early 1900s copper French, Italian, Spanish and Belgian, so, to make this easier, which countries were in the [what was it called, 19th century European monetary union?], what years was it active and what were the size standards? That should be a good start. Thanks! image

Ah, ok.. it was the latin monetary union! Followers (not necessarily members) were: France, Belgium, Italy, Greece, Romania, Switzerland, Austria, Bulgaria, Venezuela, Serbia, Montenegro, San Marino and the Papal States. Any omissions there? Now to track down equivalent denominations.

You may want to try a PM to Shirohniichan. I think he's writing a research paper on the Latin Monetary Union and has lots of useful information.

  • Krause does have a coin diameter chart. You can place the coin over the circles for the correct size. image
