  • I have no clue what it'd be worth, but why oh why would they have his sign in SP basketball or any sports cards for that matter. Unless of course its another fan's of the game type deal.

I'm not so certain that a Jamie Foxx auto belongs in an expensive product whose main selling feature is basketball player sigs. The addition of non-athletes that companies are making to these products is watering them down even further than ever.

  • Non-player sigs tend to go for big $$$ when compared to most athlete's sigs (for example, in the UD Yankee Signatures set, John Goodman and Jason Alexander are two of the most expensive signatures in the entire set), so I fail to see how having some non-athlete autographs "waters down" a set as long as the star has some relation to the sport.

  • I do not collect AU cards, definitely not Jamie Fox autos... just goes to show how gimmickey card companies like UD have become... why can't the focus remain on scarce rookies and vintage autos?

i think they should focus only on Lebron James 1/1 cards..

It's stupid to put cards like that in sports products but I bet it goes for quite a bit considering his performance in the movie Ray.

Remember when this used to be true for autos and GU of actual players before they flooded the market. After a few years they will drive these into the ground aswell. Some people buy basketball packs with hopes of pulling a basketball card, actually now that I think about it I can't say that I have seen Jamie foxx at many basketball games. I guess I could see them putting in a Spike Lee or Jack auto once in a rare while but if they are going to just use random people who may have actually been to some games, why not just make a product of only them and leave them out of the sports product?

You should cross-list it in the entertainment autographs section and see if you can fit Ray Charles or Ray in the heading. I think you'll do well with it.

I agree with CDs... Cross list it, work Ray into the title and it'll sell. Make a point of putting that it is a certified, pack pulled auto (so the movie fans that see it, that aren't card collectors) will know it's legit. I bet it sells very well. Is it numbered at all? I am sure it's short printed. I know the oddball autos of stars from last years SP Signature sold very well. Spike Lee being one of the bigger ones. I'm not so sold on the Fans of the Game autos, but for some of them, they sell very well. (Travolta, Summer Sanders, Jennie Finch to name a few) I would be willing to bet the Jamie Foxx goes over $150, especially if it's the first one listed. I'd love to see a scan of it.

I agree with those who suggest the cross with entertainment cards. If you were to look at what guys are spending for celebrity autos - it's in the hundreds since the likelihood of authenticity is outstanding compared to buying 8x10s.

Do you have a link to the auction?

I cross referenced it. thanks for the heads up guys. only thing thats going to hurt is its a redemption card, so you have to mail it in. but it already has over 80 people looked at it. and 17 people have it on there watch. here is the auction. i cant redue the picture image it has bids!
