DarkSide Ebay Coin Sale did not work real well.

I think I will stick to LightSide coin sales after this attempt with a DarkSide coin. Ebay Auction The result was a Negative Sale. You can't win them all.

  • Sorry to hear about the loss. So how much did you lose on that coin? If you do not mind me asking.image

Heck I don't have a clue. image I just buy them and keep no records. I did not check to see how much Ebay dinged me on the 1 cent sale either.

This is a new all time low though. Is it possible to start a auction at zero and have a buyer ? If so I will try for a new record one of these days.

I've been there and done that too.

VF British coins sell very poorly on ebay, unless the item for sale is a big key date. Most buyers either want top grade or junk grade.

I goofed by not calling it total junk ? I could have done that...image What a learning place this is...image

And I thought my Lincoln cent that went for .05 a couple of years ago was bad. Atleast a Forum Member got the Lincoln.

Well, I should qualify that statement. Buyers won't pay outlandish prices for junk, but you will get about the same price for junk that you get for VFs on non-key dates.

Just heard from the buyer and he said he would like more coins like this one at the same price. I respecfully declined his buying offer. BTW he sounded like a nice guy.

And no I will not sell my nice coins to make a buck on Ebay. From now on this type will be called "PQ Junk" in further auctions.

Posting an SSP: here would not be looked down upon and may have drawn more bids. I for one do not scan eBay every day for some of the types of coins that I collect, an example being fractional farthings, but will bid to add to my collection if one is brought to my attention - especially if it fills a hole or upgrades an existing coin.

Sorry your auction didn't do well but you seem to be taking it in stride.

  • May I suggest you open your auctions to non US bidders. I do not look at items on Ebay.com if they are not available to UK bidders ( I know the Isle of Man is not part of the UK but try telling Ebay ).
There are a number of Darkside bidders who are members of this forum who could have been interested.

Actually it was sort of fun watching the coin on Ebay. For 6 days there were no Watchers and no Bids. I was laughing daily. Some of my car parts do this from time to time but it was a first for a coin since Ebay let the seller know how many watchers are present.

If it happens again I will put the coin up here so a YN can have a shot at it. I did not think of that at all....image

  • actually you tied my record-- i had a circulated 1907 indian head cent and started the bidding at one penny. And that's what it sold
for!! And believe me, there are plenty of bidders on ebay who want your treasures for just that..... ONE PENNY! They'll actually
drop out of the bidding once it goes over that! That's when you want to throttle the people who advise "I start all my items out
at a penny then just trust the market to decide its true value."
