I had a raw 1963 Topps Ron Hansen card that I won a while back. I put a $6 check in the mail on Oct 17th. On Nov 27th, the card arrived in the mail in a regular envelope with a mylar sleeve and two pieces of cardboard.

    Some people.

The new banking laws are irrelevant. It can be 16-19 days before you receive notification from the bank that the check bounced.

  • After 3-5 business days my bank can tell me if a check cleared - provided I deposited the check and show them my deposit receipt.

  • Kosmo,

When I deposit checks, the money goes into my account instantly. However, if a check ends up bouncing, the money gets yanked out of my account approximately two and a half weeks later (along with a $15 fee). It's happened quite a few times, and each time it has taken between 16 and 19 days.

  • I checked with my bank on this. The 7 business day rule still applies. It may take longer for them to take the money out of your account, but they can tell you if the check is good in 7 business days.
