Thrace, Tomis

Those are very cool coins. It's amazing to think they survived so long in such good condition.

    Yes, they're both gold.

How is your white balance set?

The photos are not bad really, just need a little tweaking.

I put the coins on a paper napkin on top of a paperback book on a window sill. I steadied the camera on a 5 pound dumbbell, also on the window sill. I think "white balance" is currently beyond my technical grasp.

I'll check the camera's instruction manual image

That is o.k., little photography guys can also take great photos. I don't know much about that camera, but there should be a menu where you can adjust your white balance to the type of light source you are using. Also be sure you are in macro mode.

    Cool ancients, Xpiper image
The pics are not bad at all. Like Æthelred said, play with white balance, get in macro mode ... it's fun!!!

Great coins...having seen them in person...crappy pics, though.image

I'll photo them and then they can see what they really look like...they are in remarkeably good condition and totally "natural" skin, which is extremely rare. People just love to mess with coins...these look untampered.

  • Neat looking coins, Xpipe! We got a new camera a few months ago (I'm thinking it's a Sony Cybershot something-or-other) and I'm still working my way through the manual. Too many bells and whistles! image
