1909VDB MATTE PROOF LINCOLN CENT

I just stumbled onto the results of the Superior Galleries April 2nd Santa Clara auction where a NGC PF64RB example of this rare coin sold for $6,613 including buyers fee. It is shown on EBAY under their closed lots as number 6519261176 if someone can link it here.
The reason I post this is to alert those who seek this coin for their registry that it does NOT come cheap. The picture of the coin would tend to keep some people from bidding. In fact the comments say the coin is worth only $2k to $3k, but it was bid up at the floor auction. This confirms to me that when there are rare Lincoln proof cents like this coin or the 1990 no S, people who want them for their collection and can afford them, will pay whatever it takes to get them. And particularly with THIS coin, those that own one will want to hold onto it for a long time. It has a great history and I believe that currently less than 200 are still in existence. I have not seen one advertised for sale in many years other than at auction. As a general caution, this coin should ONLY be bought holdered by PCGS, NGC or ANACS. A raw example is probably NOT the real thing. It must have the three key diagnostics which are used by the grading services to confirm authenticity.
1. On the obverse, die polish on and in front of Lincoln's nose.
2. On the obverse, a single die scratch behind Lincoln's coat toward the "R" in LIBERTY.
3. On the reverse, a cresent shaped die chip to the right of "M" in UNUM.
The reverse diagnostic is unique to the 1909VDB matte proof while some of the non VDB 1909 Lincoln matte proofs have the obverse diagnostics also. Of course, the coin must also have all the features that other Linoln Matte proofs have like sharp strike and squared rims. Good luck if you are seeking this coin. Steve
