1934 Penny from jamminj arrived today

Excellent example from a fine seller. image

As stated before, the mint intentionally darkened pennies in 1934 with sodium thiosulfate.

what's your method of shooting dark bronze like that?

I've never had much trouble with darkened bronze. It's the red stuff that gives me fits.

I use a single OTT light, per the cacheman suggestion (top left lighting for left facing portrait).

The only trick I've tried to improve photos of coins slabbed in ANCS and NGC holders is to cut out a slab overlay to reduce reflected light. The coin is shot off center, so there are a few more aberrations, but nothing too ugly.
