"Holy Cow"

Am I the only one whose skin crawled whenever he heard Rizzuto say that? (I admit, being a Mets fan right now has me in a bad mood.)
Wise men learn more from fools than fools learn from the wise.

  • My skin crawled when he said he invented the saying when Harry Caray was using it when Rizzuto was still playing.

Neither Harry Caray or Rizzuto "invented it", but The Scooter sure did over do it!!!
Proud of my 16x20 autographed and framed collection - all signed in person. Not big on modern - I'm stuck in the past!
  • Happy 100th birthday Harry!
  • Thanks guys.
This thread just motivated me to dig up my rizzuto avatar with Yankee logo watermark.

Yes, Phil was definitely a "homer" and used that phrase quite often ... but I loved listening to him on both radio and television growing up in New York.

Remember him calling someone a "huckleberry" if he did something Rizzuto did not like?

How about him telling us about the cannoli he ate between innings.

He would also freak out when there was lightning, and sometimes left the booth following a loud burst of thunder.

He also joked about leaving the game early, saying to his wife, "I'll be home soon, Cora!" and "I gotta get over that bridge".

Most of us LOVED YA Phil!
    STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
