I live in Canada.. Send by USPS Global Express Post with signature required. Don't ship by UPS to Canada ever.. UPS rapes us on BS customs and other charges upon delivery.

You can't cover yourself with Paypal because you automatically lose your Paypal seller protection when you ship an item outside the US.

You'll lose money by blocking out Canada. Just make it clear in your auctions that you are in no way responsible for lost or stollen cards that are shipped by any other means besides global express or priority.

  • I've never had any Problem with shipping anything to Canada and I've sent cards to Korea and other place's around the world.. I did knock out global shipping after 9-11.. I haven't sold much in the last year but I had shipped everything normal usps.. I believe the green customs thing that usps has you place on the package has a cert # which could be used to verify delivery..

For what it's worth, I shipped twice to Canada...via USPS Priority Mail flat rate envelop for $4.00. Not insured, though. The buyers agreed in advance.
Proud of my 16x20 autographed and framed collection - all signed in person. Not big on modern - I'm stuck in the past!

will paypal issue the buyer a refund if the BUYER is outside of the US and says he/she doesnt receive the item, and I dont have delivery confirmation?

  • Try Register mail... (Insured) If you want them to sign for it. Yes, Paypal will give them a refund.

never had a problem w/canada.last two shipments were actually less than prority.sent them air mail and your tracking number is the customs tag(starts with LC).both went to BC from NH.
  • i ship to usa only.i really hate blocking all the honest bidders from canada(99.9% are) but with no delivery confirmation available and paypal payments, there is no seller protection.all it takes is one buyer to claim no delivery and you are out payment if he paid with paypal.that is a requirement for the seller to provide when using paypal. is it really worth all the additional shipping hassle to make an extra dollar? there are buyers who claim no delivery because they know the system.i've been burned don't let it happen to you.

  • I think www.stamps.com offers insurance for international shipping.
  • Just make it clear in your auctions that you are in no way responsible for lost or stollen cards that are shipped by any other means besides global express or priority

That will not matter what you say if the buyer makes a claim to Paypal for non-delivery. I stopped selling to Canada long ago. I found that 90% of all my problems with buyers are from Canada. I have never had problems shipping to Europe or Asia.

I do not accept payment from Paypal on anything outside the US. I make the buyers use BidPay.

  • You don't have the delivery confirmation with Global Priority. It doesn't matter what you state in your listing. If you can't provide PAYPAL will a delivery confirmation number the buyer will always win.

Correct. And even if you could get delivery/signature confirmation to Canada, it wouldn't matter because all non-US addresses are unconfirmed. Shipping to an unconfirmed address voids the Paypal seller protection.

This has changed over the last year some Canadian addresses are confirmed

You can buy a single item policy for your package from DSI Insurance for a couple of bucks. I use them when mailing coins to Canada.

Correct. Canadians can confirm their addresses the same as Americans now. My Canadian address is confirmed.

How do you get it confirmed? I fussed and fussed with it a few months ago to no avail.

I just shipped $15 worth of cards to Canada. The buyer paid via PayPal and did have a confirmed address.

I did it about a year ago, so I don't remember the exact details, but essentially confirming your address means proving that the billing address of your credit card and/or bank account matches your shipping address. I remember it being pretty easy to complete. Go into your account settings where you would edit your address. There should be a link to confirm it.
