OT. My first eBay woes - update: package found
Two items were won by koinskollectibles on 3/27.
He asks for a total on 3/28, I reply with an eBay Invoice.
On 3/29 he wants my CA Reseller ID. I ask why. He writes he wants to check the validity of my license.
He paid by PayPal on 3/30. I shipped the items on 3/31.
On 4/5 he wants know where the package is. I write that the USPS is slow sometimes and, regardless, we need to wait 3 weeks to file an insurance claim with the USPS. I also send the Insured Mail Receipt #.
On 4/7 he considers the package lost.
On 4/8 he files for a refund with PayPal.
I was polite and diplomatic with my email and always replied immediately to his concerns. This was difficult as the tone of his mail was insulting to me. Anyway this has been the most upsetting of my over 1,000 transactions on eBay. I am blocking him from bidding on futher auctions as I don't enjoy doing business with him.
I guess this isn't so bad compared to other issues I read about. Anyway it bothered me and it helps me to complain about it. Here are some quotes from his emails:
<You are collecting sales tax. I want your re-sale# to verify you with the Board of Equalization. Very simple. >
<Keep in mind we're talking eBay here. No shortage of scammers. Plenty of crooks trying to collect sales tax they are not entitled to.>
<Your attached eMail says the coins would ship Thursday 3-31-05.
Today is Tuesday 4-05-05. Oakland to L.A. has always been 2 days.
Did they ship as you stated?>
< In 30 years, I've shipped 100's of thousands of packages. I'll let you know, and do not worry about the slow USPS, as long as it was shipped as you indicated. >
<Well it's Thursday afternoon and NO coins have arrived. Really should have been several days ago. If they arrive, I'll let you know, but for now we must consider them lost.>

He wrote it in the first line of his post.
The auctions in question: Auction 1 Auction 2
One week is way to short to file for a refund.

What a jerk!
He also wants to play "Tax police" too!
Blocking him was a good thing to do.

<< <i>He filed a PayPal claim only eight days in to the process? This guy's a turd. The eBay punch bowl seems to be seeing an increasing number of them floating around lately. Give us his eBay handle so we can all block his dumb ass. >>
this schitt bag is high bidder on one of my auctions! they'll not win, they'll not have a bid on my auction as it closes, they'll be blocked.
why? cause i can not tolerate the potential grief. they'll likely NOT win the auction anyhow, as this is a bottom feeder, looking for a cheap buy/snipe, and flip for profit. they'll have to do it to someone else!
<< <i>Thanks gang, I feel better now. >>
Let me make you feel just a little worse. You wrote "On 3/29 he wants my CA Reseller ID. I ask why." Would it have killed you to just tell him your reseller ID? In your auction, you do state "California dealers please ask about the sale for resale exemption." The buyer is in California, and does sell coins, making him a de facto "dealer".
The guy's still a tool, and block-worthy, but I think that your hands are not entirely clean either. It's possible that your "Why" set up a confrontational situation that lead to this unpleasantness.
That is what confused me. Since his name suggests he is some sort of a reseller I thought he was going to give me his reseller ID so he could avoid paying sales tax. But no, he wanted my number before he would pay me CA sales tax, after I give him my number he paid the tax.
Also, thanks for the blockedbidder link. I have problems finding it too, so I bookmarked it in my favorites.
Just when I think you can't possibly come up with a more hilarious sig pic, you do it again!

Bob, thanks for the link.

I don't have many blocked bidders but this one will join the list. I don't need the headaches.

I guess I shouldn't take these things personally. But I did, the emails just rubbed me the wrong way. I guess all's well that ends well.
Don't give it another thought, Carl.
I'm happy that they were found, tho...
