1955 Topps Koufax: What will it grade?

55 Koufax

You have to admit, you know what you're getting from this seller. What do you think this card will grade?

Also, look at this Banks rookie he sold: 54 Banks

Seems like a lot of $ for an OC card.

I don't know - but he shows cards in PSA slabs in some of the lower pictures, so he knows very well what grading a card will do for its value. Why did he not get this graded? Whenever I see that, it's a bad sign. And, what's with the baloney about keeping feedback private to protect the bidders? image He means, keep potential bidders in the dark, until the auction closes.

A raw Ex-Mt Koufax rookie is not worth up to $5,000, as stated in the unintentionally humorous "auction estimate." It's worth about 1/10th of that amount, assuming PSA discovers no funny business with the card.

The fact that bidding has already far exceeded market value makes me wonder about all those "private" bids.

as sharp as that card is I have to ask myself "why isnt it graded"? a graded psa 8 koufax gets between 1500 and 2k. A card of that value, with the type of auction...to much baggage for me anyway

I say it does not grade and gets returned for (not meeting min size)

a nice way of saying it has been trimmed

    Good for you.

The card looks like a nice 6 and worth less than the current bid. I think the lower right corner is weak - tho I think with luck the card could wind up a 7?

The auction hype has made my nite! I haven't been here much lately but I'm back! Let the good times roll.
If the guy is going to hype, why not throw these in for good measure - now this is guaranteed mint!

well I just measured my koufax and came up with the exact measurements that card has..mine is slabbed a psa 7.

Look I am not saying something isn't right, but with the card slabbed next to the measuring stick it does somewhat eliminate the trimming aspect unless his ruler is fake.

5 at best.... look at pictures again and look at the crease near the corner. NOW look at the tilted picture to show the crease free card. The corner that is creased is cropped off. Grade it and sell it or call it EX... Thats what most of them come back anyways..

Does that butt have implants? Doctored or not, I give it an 8.5 with a 9 for centering.

You can see the crease in the first "glare" shot, top left corner, extending out past the B on his hat:

Also, check out the nasty registration in this blow up:

I would say that crease knocks it down to a PSA 4 at best.
