Teletrade or Heritage for Selling Registry Quality Modern's?

I have been using eBay and the BST board to sell my modern less expensive coins. But I now have a low pop Jefferson Nickel (1948-P PCGS MS66FS) to sell and don't know how to price the coin or where the best place would be to sell the coin. I have bought coins from Teletrade and Heritage, but have never consigned any coins to them. Any opinions or recommendations on using Teletrade or Heritage to sell this coin would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Charlie

  • If consigning to teletrade the coin either has to have a value of $1000.00 or you have to submit at least eight coins.Hope this helps.

I think one of your best bets for realizing top dollar for a 1948 PCGS MS-66FS
Jefferson Nickel would be to have it listed in a Heritage Signature Sale. It
seems that some amazing prices are brought in these HRCG auctions.

Or you may consider B & M auctions since they sold the 60-D & 61-D PCGS
    FS nickels for incredible prices.

    Hope this helps.

I tried to send Heritage a set of my nickels (all PCGS) and they do have a minimum of $3000. Your best bet may be to have Wondercoin (Mitch) market this one for you.

    Thanks,

I've sold on teletrade and Heritage. I think for a coin like that you are better selling it with Heritage. Sometimes if you have a high value coin they will wave the mininum.

Teletrade vs. Heritage - each has some interesting advantages. Anyone can call me (phone numbers on websites) and I would be happy to discuss why I go to each venue with coins. I will have a very large consignment to the 6/05 Heritage Long Beach Signature Sale and would also be happy to discuss with anyone the terms for including a single coin(s) valued at $750 or higher to the sale. The deadline to consign is in roughly (3) weeks.

I like Wondercoins approach of taking some of the discussion off-line. I have only bought on Teletrade and all with positive experiences. The quality of coins on TT these days is excellent.

I have sold on Heritage with excellent success with superior coins. I felt like I got better prices than I could have gotten elsewhere.

    Good Luck.

  • I would consign to auction at David Lawrence. I beleive that they offer a no fee reserve, on their online weekly auctions.

Not quite. They changed it awhile back that all consignments have to be a $1000 minimum regardless of the # of coins. The 48P in 66FS would probably be fine. It may bring slightly under $1000, but Teletrade certainly wouldn't turn down a coin of that caliber.
