Question about insurance for busted slab.

Card came, slab cracked in half. Sent card back. Dealer is waiting for P.O> to refund him, before he refunds me. Is this just annoying, or is he playing hard ball?

lost a psa9 1960 al kaline all-star that way.package looked like it was run over.case cracked and card ,small rip.easier if you went to your post office and filed a claim (they have both evidences, card and ill-used package).still, takes usps about a month to get refund(they do not refund postage, the postmaster was on my bowling team at the time).i,as,seller would reccommend this but if you sent back, refund should be issued and let seller wait for check.as now ,all my psa cards are shipped boxed.lesson learned.

It is very unlikely the PO will be refunding him. They will reject his claim for insufficient packaging. He should be paying you now, not later.
  • More than likely the PO will say once you shipped it back the original insurance was voided. You should always have the seller file it on their end the PO will contact you for info they need.

Insurance is for the protection of the seller, he should have refunded you and then went thrgh the steps.

I have 2 gripes about insured slabs.
First, the seller should of just automatically refunded you
your money. You paid for it, although it's for his protection and
you shouldn't have to wait for the PO to reimburse him before you
get yours. Here's the part where you're going to get screwed.......
the PO (happened to me) states that they do not insure "glass" or anything
similar to glass that can break. I was the seller in my situation and presented
the product the way it was packaged after the buyer sent it back to me the way
he received it and presented it to the PO and that's the excuse they gave me with
no recourse. The clerk even had the audacity to tell me that it would of been better
had I claimed that it was never received. So basically I was out $100 and just
refunded the buyer. I learned my lesson from there on, and any slab card that is valued
over $50 goes out in a box with packing peanuts. Anything under $50 goes out in a bubble
mailer "with" 2 thick pieces of cardboard to sandwich it in. At least make it thick enough so that
it can't pass through the machine to be stamped. If I was to buy an expensive slabbed
card, I usually request to the seller to ship it in a box or in a priority box or whatever and I would pay
extra just to save from the headache. I have within the past 2 years however received 2 slabbed cards
that were cracked in half in a bubble mailer. No padding or anything. Good luck getting a refund. Hope
it works out......and no you shouldn't have to wait for your refund. Tell him you sent your money out
to him in good faith and shouldn't have to be penalized in anyway. The contract is between him and the
PO. I think it's BS on his part.

I received a slab that was basically shattered but the card was unhurt. I emailed the seller (xpsagrader?) and he immediately sent me $5 to get it reholdered. The card was only about $8 to start with. Some sellers try to always do the right thing.

  • So far I have not had any damaged cases, and I would say a vast majority of them I receive are simply wrapped in paper and slipped into a bubble mailer. Occasionally I'll get one sent between cardboard, and I have never, EVER gotten a single card sent in a box. The scarriest thing I've had was a $3000+ card sent from a major auction house that was just sitting on my front porch when I came home one day. Hell, I should have told them I never got the card and just seen what they said. I still can't believe it.
