DREI is the best but something still seems off.

Drei is the best pic ... shows off the surfaces and detail the best, but I'd bet Zwei is the closest to the look "in hand" image

I like the frosty look to the devices in #2, but I'd say #1 looks closest to the real thing.

Well.........Ein was shot with the angled glass, and while this has the advantage of colour over lustre, i.e., killing the lustre, in this case you have a coin with mostly satiny silver surfaces. They are somewhat matte-like, but there is still lustre just not a typical "frosty" cartwheel.

Ein is, in fact, the best balance with what I've presented, however, drei could be improved quite a bit with something I discovered "after" it was sent to Slabsville.... image

Specifically, drei would probably capture the best of colour and evenness of the fields "IF" the camera lens was raised about 0.5" from the subject....not much, but enough. The other artifact is angling the light tubes from a 10K-4K orientation to 10K-2K; this in combo with the lens distance creates a very even surface light distribution.

Of course, a dozen other co-factors could be introduced to optimize each and every coin....at least each coin type. But, you still have to contend with the variance of wavelengths (toning, etc.) which requires altering the intensity of lighting etc. on every coin.......and on and on and on.... Sorry, but you'll just have to wait.

Bottom line: THIS GETS EASIER WITH TIME, BUT ONLY EASIER, NOT EASY!!!! image

    Cheers,

#2 appeals to me the most. The only problem with the coin is its lack of Britishness.image
