Use a bench vise if available. Gently close the vise. The slab should easily split.

If you have a very expensive coin and are worried about the grade, I've heard to use a band saw to cut off the four edges and gently remove the middle. Big hassle.

    Otherwise - Bench Vice it!

Thanks everyone...sounds like I have to invade the hubby's territory and start with the vise. The coin isn't overly valuable...and I want it out!

Let us know how it turns out, the last ANACS slabe I cracked was in a vice and it took all of 3 minor turns to split the top from the bottom... easiest slab on the market to crack
