What is the best way to list cards on PSA submissions?

Greetings to all.

I've probably submitted over 1000 cards these past three years and have often wondered if the order of the cards being submitted makes any difference. I've noticed several members don't group all their cards together by year, say all the 1970s together and then maybe all their 1978s together. Instead, maybe 20 1970s, then 30 1978, then back to 30 1970s, and finally 20 1978s. It might just be that the cards are listed as the collector gets them ready. Or is this done to give the grader a break from one type of card? I'm in no way suggesting there are ways to "trick" graders or anything, but even highly trained people might need a break in a larger submission to gain perspective and not get into a rut while they are examining large groups of cards. I would just like to know how best to submit my cards. I'm in no way complaining about PSA, I'm very happy with the service they've provided me. I'm just interested in some feedback from those members who submit to PSA on a regular or fairly regular basis.

Thanks,
Peter

How to you store / display / catalog your cards ?

I would think most of us arrange them by year, then by number. Alphabetical if a player set or for different sports.

Why not list them in date order, oldest years first, then by numerical order for that year, lowest number first? I sumbit in that manner and find it easy to look up or refer to if needed.

I try to organize the submission by year, but it never seems to be 100% in order (especially if you add cards at the end). I don't think it is that big a deal though - and who is to say just one grader will look at your entire submission top to bottom alone?

  • Good point ctsoxfan. So far, I've kept all my cards grouped together by date and maker starting with the oldest cards first. Just wondered what other collectors thought. I set my cards off to the side until I'm ready to submit and then fill out my order form.

    Thanks,
    Peter
