seems my local numismatic store barely has any great britain. when i ask them about great britain they act as enthusiastic as a brick!
first became interested in cardboard at the age of three. since then i have collected varying examples of textures, corregation grades, glue types, etc. from all over the world. Finding this site and fellow collectors who are as equally devoted to the phenomenon has brought a whole new point, purpose and meaning to my exsitence.

Hello and welcome. I see you like one of my former icons.

8,000 were made dated 1847, all proofs. They are not considered rare but are very desireable. UNC issues run $2,000 -$6,000. IMO they should be purchased only from reputable sources such as NEN or the better auction houses unless slabbed since many raw ones have been cleaned/hairlined and now there are a lot of fakes. Also, watch out for reproductions being sold as the real thing on ebay (though they have cracked down on this a bit). There are also some dated 1853, but these are virtually unobtainable, being from very limited issue proof sets (460 made). Price tag on 1853 is likely to be five figures nowadays.

I know what you mean about some coin shops. I walked into one recently and was told by the first employee that they had no British - she flat out lied to me because I had bought from them before. Later on, a second employee pulled out some stuff for me to look at.

The Gothic Crown (the pics you have) are very expensive. If you want the same "look" on a smaller coin, try to find the Gothic Florins. They are a bit smaller than a US half dollar, and, IMO, just as pretty. Like this one:

I fear I may buy another gem florin quite soon, although my other Victorian Type is still lagging (like I'm not real excited about those monkey crown Jubes anyway) ..... 'tis a very sad disease to be taken with. Maybe some day I'll end up with a complete date run of these Gothic Sweeties.

Ah, but "someday" is well nigh impossible for a poor, poor church mus. Maybe Wybrit can make a $100,000 loan to me at 1%, for say, 50 years. Come on, you know I'm good for it. I swear I won't blow half on an UNA......PROMISE!! image

I just picked a gothic florin up on ebay. Not uncirculated and looks like it may have been cleaned but I got it pretty cheap, I think.

    Hi,
no Welsh emblems I'm afraid. We were not important enough to be on the coins - and they tried to crush our language!.
    Still lovely coins.
