First Darkside Purchase... Update: PICTURES !!!

Pictures, Pictures, Pictures... FINALLY!

I just bought a digital camera so I can finally take pictures of my coins. Seeing as how I've never owned a camera, this is my first real attempt at doing photos. Don't laugh at my poor photographic skills. Gimme time and I'll get better. So, here it is... my first Darkside coin. It's in an NGC PF64 slab.

This photo shows what the coin looks like straight on:

This photo shows the awesome toning as seen from an angle... the blue is even more striking than what the photo shows:

It's about time we all put another notch in our collective Krause. We bagged another one!

Welcome. You will not regret your choice. In fact, that's the great thing about the Darkside. The choices are endless.

Your florin looks wonderful, by the way. Give us some pics when you have it in hand.

What were some of the designs you found yourself liking?

Well,, I can see why you did it.

That Florin has an AWESOME look. I used to chase Lightside coins with the same look, but they've become VERY expensive.
I started doing the same as you a few years ago - chasing Darkside with the same 'Look'

    WELCOME.

Welcome to the real world of collecting. If I were you though I would avoid all British coins. They are truly awful things.

image But seriously, that looks like an excellent example. Do you have a shot of the reverse?

I noticed a pattern developing as I looked at other coins. I seem to be drawn to many mid to late 19th and very early 20th century European and South American coins. I think my favorites are the German and British coinage (sorry WYBrit) and the Swiss & French exonumia of that time period. The design elements of many of these coins are very aesthetically pleasing to me.

Thanks, Cosmic. It was actually seeing some of the coins that you, Darkhorse, and AuldFartte own that pushed me over the edge. So, I have you to thank for my newfound appreciation.

I've seen it... and I WANT ONE!!!

<< <i>Do you have a shot of the reverse? >>

Not yet. The seller of that coin did not have a picture of it available. The coin is in an NGC slab (PF64) so I'm hoping it's as nice as the obverse appears to be.

Thanks, AuldFartte. Glad to be here! I have you to thank for my next numismatically-related purchase. I'm taking your advice and will be purchasing an Olympus C-765 so I can start taking some glorious pictures.

  • Welcome. The total lack of competition does make the Dark alot more relaxing to collect. The myriad of designs are quite staggering.
