how's the planchet? (1803 half cent)

got this quite a while ago. Love it and matches my 1798 large cent, so it's not going anywhere. The dealer whom I trust, mentioned the words "rough" planchet even before showing it to me. Is this to be connected to porosity or just that the copper is rough surfaced?

The coin is "porous" - i.e. corroded. Coins struck on "porous" planchets are relatively few and you can see metal flow over the porosity if that is the case. However, if the porosity is over the metal flow, then the coin was in a damp or corrosive environment and corroded. 03s typically come on very nice planchets. "Rough planchet" is an obfuscatory dealer euphemism (get out your dictionary image) for corroded coin.
