    I like the coins, the information, and the humor and silliness, both in the coin forums and out. I also like that the conversation is more "freewheeling" and spontaneous than some other boards, more real time...sort of chat roomish. But better.

    This place is like a gigantic coin encyclopedia. Just about anything one wants to know is as close as the search button.

    Oh yeah, I also LOVE the Legend threads. image

  • Friendly, knowledgeable people. No forum can survive without them and this one is no exception. I've been on many forums where asking a question that was answered previously is grounds for being flamed to death. To date, I've seen very little of that going on which is a nice thing. Also, people willing to lend a grading opinion on coins that are posted is a nice thing. Some of us (myself included) are not close to any major, reputable coin shops and it's great to get some balanced opinions to our own grading efforts. Thank you everyone for what you do.

    Lots and lots of things. However some of my favorite are:

    1. The pictures of pre 1971 CAMDCAM coins;

    2. All other pictures of coins;

    3. The humor;

    4. The competition (i.e. between Russ and MadMarty) which also lends itself to humor; and

    5. The knowledge possessed by some (i.e. Cladking & Coppercoins) and shared with all.

    In no particular order --

    photos, questions, answers, stories, reports, ethical conundrums, cautionary tales, prognostications & market analysis, community, and good conversation. It's a nice place to drop in.

    I especially like some of the pithy statements that come from Russ:

    "I love this place."

    "You can't buy this kind of entertainment"

    etc.

    Fortunately, the good FAR outnumbers the bad. I go along with Russ on this one...with the exception of the Legend thing.

  • let me echo the sentiments voiced by everyone on this thread relative to what they like about this board. i've learned more in a couple months on here than i had in the years preceeding my finding the board. thanks to everyone for being so willing to share knowledge and protect our hobby and each other.

    This forum is GREAT!

    I have learned more from this place than any other single source. There is no telling how long it would have taken or how much money I would have wasted on coins before I figured out a lot of the stuff I have learned here.

    Sure, some of the posts are negative and unfriendly, but who cares, ingore them. The good out weighs the bad.

    The US Coin Forum here is great!!!image I really can`t begin to start how much this placed has helped me become more decerning in what I look for and buy. So, I guess the people and the information and the time they take to answer questions.

    I like the ability to ask an expert (or at least someone more experienced) a question and to be able to quickly get an unbiased answer. I also like to help others with their questions when I can.

    I like the charitable side of the forum: Jeremy's four fundraisers, Marty's and TUMUSS' ebay auctions for the Tsunami victims, and Boom's Christmas charity auction come to mind.

    The fact that it's probably saved me five grand in coin buying mistakes over the last six months. When I came here I was a coin buying image . Today I'm a collecting image !

  • It has to be the community that has been created here.

    In what other industry can you regularly chat/post with some of the heavy weights of that particular industry and have them respond to your questions, comments or pics?

    Think of the experience and talent of some of the people that post here. In no other industry does this happen.

    It's amazing to me!
