Drinking and coin shopping

I've made two noteworthy mistakes in buying coins off ebay in the last three months, both after having had a couple of pops. Just as they say one should never go grocery shopping while hungry, I wonder if this applies to coin buying. Has anyone else experienced a skewing of the old sensibilities after a wee dram? In retrospect, here's what I feel happened: (1) The imagination soars--the possibilities for something in an old green holder seem grand; (2) Normal discipline suffers; (3) Sense of trust escalates; (4) It put me in the mood for an old-fashioned thrill.
I'm not looking for the hotline to a 12-step program or anything, just wondering if similar mishaps have happened to ya'll.

At least you have an excuse. I manage to make mistakes buying on eBay while I'm stone cold sober

The second step is sending me the coins you have bought when drinking
So I never "buy it now" on ebay unless sober. And in other auctions, I always set my max bids early and don't look back.

There isn't enough 'Jack' in Tennesse..........................
I have a few coins that I TELL people I purchased after a few drinks!
Now if there was a coin show in one of the casino's in vegas then we might have a problem.....
I always miss the shows by a week out there.....
There are far worse things which one could be doing after a few to many drinks.....
As alcohol is known to reduce inhibitions, I found it easier to say, "what the hell, it's only two hundred bucks." Fortunately, even though I bought some stuff I wouldn't have bought (most likely) when stone-cold sober, they were nice coins worth the money. My eye for nice coins doesn't deteriorate -- but the nagging voice in the back of your head telling you not to spend too much money goes to sleep.

Not a good idea!
<< <i>Maybe the coin shops should offer free drinks to their customers
The jewlery store I bought my fiance's engagement ring had a refrigerator with beer in it for customers. May not be a bad idea for coin shops!
As a side note, the beverages offered at the jewlery store didn't influence my buying decision!

There were regular art auctions on the last cruise my wife and I were on last year.
At these auctions, they kept pouring 'free' champagne for the people (adults, anyway) in attendance. You don't suppose they were trying to influence the hammer price of the items, do you?
