Russ...you are a cameo magnet!! Whats the most cameos you've found in one pre-1968 proof set.
  • Very Sweet! Anything holding either back from DCAM? Roosie looks a little light, but the washington seems to be all there...could just be the pictures...

Roosie looks DCAM....The Washington looks Cam due to the left wing tip. imo

The Roosie is a DCAM, but only grades PR67 due to some light spotting. The Washington has marvelous surfaces grading PR68, but is only cameo.

Some months ago I posted a thread about finding more than one cameo in a single proof set. Interesting replies were posted, including a reply by another cameo fan (RGL or Dheath I seem to recall) that included a picture of five cameo coins he found in an original SMS set. Unreal IMHO.

BTW, my best score was a 1962 Proof set that had 4 out of the five coins being cameo (I do not remember which coin it was, but it was one of the minors). My jaw dropped on that one. Picked up the set for between $10-$20. My only regret is that I cut out the cameo coins. I should have kept the set intact.

Doesn't look as good as this one:

That one blows away the one I picked up today. It has the strongest black and white contrast on the obverse that I've ever seen on a Washington, including the ultra modern silver proofs. Sadly, though, it isn't mine.

Nope, it's one that got away from that vulture. Belongs to another forum member.
