1971 psa cards

How tuff will it be to complete a 1971 psa 7 set???

Do you think low pop cards will remain low pop with the difficult black borders and unopened drying up?

Help the newbie please

Should not be tough at all. I had 55% of the set done in a very short time before I decided to switch focus. Commons are very affordable and PSA 7s are easy to pick up in bulk lots. Look for DSL auctions or go to the Registry and browse the sets that say "My Extra Set" or "My Duplicates." That is how I bought a lot of my cards. Buying in bulk cut down costs across the board as I didn't have to pay shipping on each and every card. As far as low pops, there are some difficult ones but I don't think there are tons like you might find in PSA 8.

If you are interested, I have three extra PSA 7s that I can sell you. #164, #590, #606. Just PM me if interested.

One thing I've noticed putting a large Topps set together in PSA 7, is that some cards will be easier and cheaper relative to SMR in PSA 8. Try to identify those and don't overpay for a seven when there are plenty of eights.
  • I just completed the set in PSA 7. Actually just purchased my final card (#382 Jake Gibbs) this weekend from a board member (Thanks Gaspipe!). It took me about 3 years to complete the set on a budget. Overall, I put the set together for about 65% of SMR. If you are willing to spend more than that, you can complete it much faster. It is very easy until you get to the low population commons (e.g., Lonborg, Gibbs, Carty, etc.). The low population commons are tough to come by and you can expect to pay multiples of SMR for them. Good luck if you decide to pursue the set!

Toughness is all relative to how much money you want to spend.

The more you can spend, the easier it is to complete.
